Cream Cheese and Horseradish Pockets

Sometimes you need certain recipes to have in mind when company arrives. Appetizers are always a sure crowd pleaser and this recipe, courtesy of my mom, makes the perfect little "bites". It's so simple that you can take a look at the images and immediately know how to make these. But for the less equipped with that sort of talent, this post includes the recipe as well. These pockets have horseradish in them, which makes them spicy but at the same time so unusual.

Cream Cheese and Horseradish Pockets

Ingredients

4-6 layers of phyllo dough

Filling:
250 gr (8 ounces) cream cheese
1 tsp horseradish (or more to taste if you like it spicy)
170 gr (1/2 cup) mozzarella cheese, diced into small cubes or shredded
120 gr (4 ounces) sour cream
2 cloves of garlic, minced
salt and pepper, to taste
parsley, chopped up and some for garnish

olive oil, for adding on top
butter, melted
ajvar, optional to add on top

Method

1. Cut up phyllo dough in squares, a little bit bigger then a individual muffin in a muffin tin. Take out your muffin tin and brush with butter. Place squares of phyllo dough inside the muffin tin, 2 sheets, overlapping each other. Place a little bit of melted butter in between the layers. Bake at 180C / 350F for 5-7 minutes, or until golden. Don't let them burn. Take out of oven and let the cool completely.

2. Take the cups out of the muffin tin and place on a serving platter. Mix ingredients for the filling and place into the cooled cups.

3. Garnish with parsley, olive oil and/or ajvar.
