Traditional Villages are common here in Bosnia and Herzegovina. You have really, really old ones, everyone knows about, like Lukomir, then there are the hidden ones spread out through the country. One of those hidden gems is the village Babici in the plains of Rostovo, located near Bugojno. Now, this village, though traditional in design isn't really old. It has been rebuild in order to showcase what life used to look like.
This place is actually called Ethno Village Babici & Hotel Rostovo. As the name suggests you can find a hotel and restaurant nearby, as well as the old village. It can be booked for weddings, photoshoots, or simply explored by foot. There are 7-8 small houses here, as well as a barn, an old well and mill and a little dog house. All very charming :)
There is almost an old western feel in Rostovo, with wooden doors and posts, carriages and wooden floors. I loved admiring the old carriages and wondered where the builders got them from. I can imagine people coming here for a photoshoot. It all looks like a big movie set.
The surrounding houses and nature also offer up a lot to see. I spotted a small pink house which looked so cute, nestled between the green of nature.
You can also find a small creek flowing nearby called "Bijeli potok", which translated means "White Creek". A wooden bridge crosses it, which has seen better days.
I hope you enjoyed this little excursion to the Traditional Village Rostovo and that you enjoyed the images. Let me know what you think of it in the comments below.
